Writer, Producer, Performer

I am a writer, long-form journalist, producer, and retired risk-management consultant living in the Pacific Northwest.

Most of my commissioned work has been hanging out with and covering people and movements who live on America’s fringes: cult leaders, Grand Wizards, con artists, exorcists, anti-government militias, men’s rights activists, pick-up artists, sex offenders, professional cuddlers, and the like.

My work has appeared in Newsweek, marie claire, The Daily Beast, NPR, RISK!, Longreads, Public Radio International, Dan Savage’s Hot Mic, The League of Ordinary Gentlemen, Yahoo! News, Enough, With Her In Mind Network, and Pickathon. I’m currently a regular contributor for marie claire International and Editor Emeritus for Ordinary Times.

I am also currently Executive Producer and Artistic Director for 7 Deadly Sins Productions, which produces live stage shows that tell people’s true stories through personal-narrative storytelling, music, spoken-word poetry, performance art, standup comedy, readings, and theatre. In addition to one-off events such as Spoken @ Pickathon and Andrew Dickson’s performance art piece Kids These Days, we produce a series of regularly occurring shows which include 7 Deadly Sins MainStage, 7DS: Pants On Fire, Daria’s Confessional Cabaret w/ Daria Eliuk, 7 Deadly Sins: Saturnalia, Rough Draft, and 7DS: Story Tour.
